The Whale Shark
The whale shark is the largest living fish. A gentle filter feeding giant, it travels vast intercontinental distances in search of food and a mate. These marine megafauna are vulnerable to overfishing and pollution, and for this reason need protection.
While living in Mozambique and witnessing their fragility with his own eyes, Mock made it his mission to draw attention to the whale shark and tell its story through the medium of art. His wondrous encounters with the shark started a dialogue on the protection of our delicately balanced marine ecosystems. By drawing attention to their beauty and what is necessary for their suvival, Mock aims to raise awareness around the importance of this iconic species and their contribution to the health of our oceans and the future of our planet, and ultimately humanity.
